Wild Fang (ワイルド・ファング Wairudo Fangu?)[note 1] is the younger apprentice of Wild Dog. He first appears in Time Crisis 3, as the secondary boss of Stage 3 with his partner Wild Dog. He specializes in delivering superpowered kicks that can strike with enough force to send steel bars, crates, forklifts and other objects flying.

Appearance

Common feature

Wild Fang wears purple-tinted sunglasses with circular lens but has it angled down, revealing his brown eyes.

Time Crisis 3

Wild Fang wore a pink collared button shirt with a tie and brown suspenders, purple pants and white shoes.

Time Crisis 4

Wild Fang wore a light beige sleeveless coat with two blue wolf symbols on the front and a yellow Chinese character "牙" (yá) meaning Fang on the back. He also had a metal pendent with chain links and containing the same Chinese character as on his coat. While running to attack Captain William Rush and the National Guard soldiers, he removed the coat and pendant to reveal his appearance in the previous game with the change from purple pants to brown vertical-stripped pants. He also has a circular-shaped ear ring on his left ear.

Time Crisis 5

Wild Fang wears a pink collared button shirt with orange feathers on the collar area and black cuffs. It is opened around his chest. His suspenders are purple and a small case is attached on his left suspender. A purple belt with golden buckle is around his waist with a purple holster on the left side. His pants are white with a purple belt on his left thigh and a black cuff on his lower left leg. His left shoe is black. There are red indicators attached to his chest and solar generators attached to his back. Said solar generators can create a solar energy orb which can damage the player regardless if they are behind cover or are changing directions. However, they need to be fully charged to fire the orb. As for each charging process, the amount of energy is steadily increased until it increases by 11.9% at which it will instantly increase by 12.1%. The charging process can be interrupted if Wild Fang receives sufficient damage but the amount of energy gained during said process is retained.

History

Time Crisis 3

Main article: Time Crisis 3

In Stage 3 Area 1, Wild Dog and Wild Fang engaged in a gunfight with V.S.S.E. agents Alan Dunaway and Wesley Lambert, but they were defeated together as Wild Fang was shot down and Wild Dog blew himself up.

Time Crisis 4

Main article: Time Crisis 4

While Wild Dog battled Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard, Captain William Rush battled Wild Fang, who had installed a tractor-beam device onto his right leg. With this device, he was able to remotely grab objects from his surroundings and kick them in every direction. He also used that device to pull objects towards himself then spinning them around at incredible speeds to create a powerful tornado effect. Rush defeated Wild Fang (with Wild Dog blowing himself up occurring at around the same time) and knocked him into the path of a UCAV. Given his boss's frequent habit of returning from the dead, Wild Fang presumably was still alive despite this painful defeat.

Time Crisis 5

Main article: Time Crisis 5

Wild Fang was surprised that the V.S.S.E. agents were "abandoned by their own partner" (Robert Baxter), as the agents, now escorted by Keith Martin, battle Wild Fang in a cave as he is now armed with a modified right leg which can fire missiles and solar generators attached to his back that can create a solar energy orb to burn the cave and destroy everything inside, only to fail as he collapses upon his defeat, dropping the orb he has charged, which in turn causes multiple explosions and killing him in the process.

Combat Abilities

Like Wild Dog, Wild Fang is also one of the most dangerous combatant. However, unlike Wild Dog, he possesses enormous superhuman abilities that no one cannot be predicated. His speed makes Wild Fang one of the most agile enemy for the protagonist to hit.

Shooting Abilities

In a gunfight, Wild Fang is nearly identical to Wild Dog in both shooting style and the weapon used. Wild Fang will fire off his Mauser M712/C96 in a rapid succession and with very high degree of accuracy, even capable of making a crisis shot while being airborne, contrasting Wild Dog who has to make a safe landing before start firing shots. However, Wild Fang is much less evasive and more direct in his approach than his older peer, preferring to stand still in the open and making shots while occasionally veering left and right with lower speed compared to Wild Dog. Wild Fang is only capable of targeting only one person at the time. In a situation where both V.S.S.E. operatives are separated, Wild Fang will focus his shots onto one operative until his magazine is empty, then turning his full attention to the other one, leaving himself wide open for another operative to get a shot on him.

During the event of Time Crisis 5, Wild Fang changed his weapon into the Winchester 1887, an archaic lever-action shotgun with engraved silver-gold finish and a long magazine tube custom. He can no longer rapid-fire but almost all of his shots are deadly accurate.

Melee Abilities

In melee combat, Wild Fang is extremely deadly, he will frequently ambushes V.S.S.E. operatives with a roundhouse kick, an axe kick and a pistolwhip. All of which are very quick and he may attempt it again twice or even thrice in a row, until his attack is stopped by an agent with a quick reaction.

Wild Fang is also capable leaping extremely high into the air and performing a lounging dive kick directly at V.S.S.E. agents that is very fast and nearly impossible to hit him out of it. In Time Crisis 4 and Time Crisis 5, his left leg will emit a wolf aura when performing said dive kick.

Finally, Wild Fang's superhuman leg strength allows him to perform the signature roundhouse kick on absolutely any sort of objects and send them flying towards his enemy with great force. From a car tire, an I-beam, a forklift, up to and include a massive shipping container. This was only done in Time Crisis 3.

Amputation Abilities

Wild Fang replaced his right leg after defeat from Alan Dunaway and Wesley Lambert in Time Crisis 3. Like Wild Dog, he adopts new tactics for the protagonists to worry about. In a fight with Rush, Wild Fang was equipped with a tractor beam to remotely pull objects and throw it at him. Wild Fang also used that weapon to pull objects towards himself then spinning them around at high speeds, creating a movable shield. However, he was vulnerable for a limited time once he stopped spinning. In Time Crisis 5, Wild Fang's right leg has the ability to fire missiles but does not have the tractor beam ability.

Trivia

  • Unlike Wild Dog who has his death signatures (by suicide bombing), so far Wild Fang has no death signatures. In addition, he is the only recurring antagonist who is not killed by a V.S.S.E. agent (Rush killed him in Time Crisis 4).
    • He is also defeated by Rush without being gunned down as Rush defeats him by executing roundhouse kick to him, causing him to fall down to the UCAV. While Jack Mathers share the trait of being bested in melee combat by Rush, he was actually finished by an uppercut.
    • He is the fourth antagonist in the main Time Crisis series who is not killed by a V.S.S.E. agent. The first is Jake Hernandez from Time Crisis 3 who was killed by Alicia Winston, the second is the Terrorist Leader and the third is Frank Mathers. The last two antagonists were also killed by Rush.
  • In Time Crisis 4, Wild Fang's boss fight does not have any enemy foot soldiers and is the first boss fight in the Time Crisis series to do so.
  • Aside of having no death signatures, Wild Fang also does not have signature music.
  • Wild Fang is the second antagonist to use a shotgun. The first is Derrick Lynch from Crisis Zone.
  • As of Time Crisis 5, the only V.S.S.E. agent Wild Fang has not seen or known is Richard Miller as Wild Fang had a brief look of Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard during a long fall as a result of a roundhouse kick by Rush.

Voice Actor Connection

  • Wild Fang's Japanese voice actor for Time Crisis 4 (Kouji Tobe) was previously the voice of Bass (Forte (フォルテ Forute?) in Japan) from Mega Man: The Power Battle (Rockman: The Power Battle (ロックマン・ザ・パワーバトル Rokkuman Za Pawābatoru?) in Japan) and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters (Rockman 2: The Power Fighters (ロックマン (ツー) ザ パワーファイターズ Rokkuman Tsū Za Pawāfaitāzu?) in Japan); and his Japanese voice actor for Time Crisis 5 (Hiroaki Miura) was previously the voice of Giorgio Bruno[4] and Evan Bernard[5] from Time Crisis 4, and Ouko Yushima from Bleach. In addition, his English voice actor for Time Crisis 5 (Maxwell Powers) was previously the system voice for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and its updated arcade version Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited. Maxwell Powers would later be the system voice for The King of Fighters XIV[6] and The King of Fighters XV.[7]
